Waiting… October 27, 2006

Filed under: Adoption — findingbabyg @ 10:55 pm

Nothing is happening.  The courts have been closed for a long time.  Now all agencies are having to renew their licenses.  Thankfully we are only at the beginning of this process and not one of the many families who have a face and a name and a baby waiting for them.  Hopefully things will start to happen soon.

**Update:  Court dates have been issued starting this Friday.  The ball has FINALLY begun rolling again!!!

A trip home October 23, 2006

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 11:25 pm

We just returned from our long overdue trip to see my family.  It was a great week with as much visiting as possible squeezed in (maybe next time we’ll try to slow it down a bit).  Supergirl was able to see her Grandma and Papa and uncles and aunts and cousins and great grandmas and great grandpa.  LOTS of family, and yet, we still didn’t see a lot of them.  All Supergirl cared about was going to her Uncle Sam’s house to ride the horse.  Which she did.  That is heaven for her!!!

Randomness October 7, 2006

1.  This week I had my first ever meeting with a fellow blogger.  I met Minow and his mommy from over at Family Found.  Fortunately for us she was not secretly a Dateline predator…  Minow is definitely one of the happiest and most handsome babies I have seen.  It was nice to have someone to ask my 5000 adoption questions, and she patiently answered them all.  Supergirl had to show Minow all of her toys, and kept saying “He have a head.”  I guess she was not expecting that…  Hopefully we can do it again soon, although it did make me that much more ready to get this wait over with.

2.  Daddy-O and I had the good fortune to take some kids to see Cirque De Soleil this week.  Apparently they are very good about working with (and giving tickets to) at-risk youth.  It was an awesome show and we all had a LOT of fun.  We didn’t let Supergirl go, maybe next time.

3.  Today Supergirl had her very first Build-A-Bear experience.  She made a penguin, named Emma, who apparently is a ballerina.

4.  Supergirl’s choice of bedtime stories this week:  Honeybunny Funnybunny by Marilyn Sadler and When Sophie Gets Angry; Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang

5.  We go to Oklahoma in 9 days.  Yay!!!!

6.  Oh yes, and still not word on when the Ethiopian Courts will reopen.  Hopefully very soon!

And I have to thank Chookooloonks for this video.  I am feeling some love:

Imagination Station October 1, 2006

2nd Birthday 056

Lately Supergirl has gone through a remarkable increase in imaginative play.  This has resulted in non-stop talking (even though had you asked me a few weeks ago I would have said it was impossible for her to talk anymore—she has proved me wrong!).  Today there have been countless conversations between her hands:

Hand 1:  Waaaah!!!!!

Hand 2:  What’s da madder?

1:  It hurts.

2:  What hurts?

1:  My fingder.

2:  I kiss it.  Muuuaaah.

1:  all better.

Earlier in the day:

Hand 1 (to hand 2):  NO!  You go time-out.

Me:  Why did your hand have to go to time-out?

Supergirl:  It hurt me!

So, so, so much talking.  Is this just a girl thing, or do all two-year-old’s spend every waking moment having conversations with their hands?
