Boomer thinks this is the greatest commercial ever. When it comes on he will run from wherever he is in the house and start screaming “SODA!!!SODA!!!SODA!!!” followed by “CANDY!!!CANDY!!!CANDY!!!”

They’re trying to kill me… January 26, 2009

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 11:50 pm

The government. I am slowly losing my sanity. If they extend this deadline for the big digital transition in TV land I might actually have to jump off the nearest bridge. The dream of Feb 17 has been getting me through the last several of months of nonstop public service announcements and news stories of how to get your converter box. But 4 more months? I can’t take it. They finally acknowledged waterboarding is torture, but what about this?

Seriously…

Boomer update January 17, 2009

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 11:47 am

So I’m home all of about 5 hours and our computer gets a virus. So now I’m limited to our ‘buy a laptop give a laptop” computer, which is great for email, but not so great for the other things I would like to be doing like shopping, uploading pictures, you know.
So I decided to use this time to give an update on Mr. Boomer.

He is now 26 1/2 months old… I really think in his head he turned two when he was about 18 months old, so we’re very used to the two year old stuff already. So let me break it down for you:

Behavior: He’s still as busy as ever, running, climbing, jumping, getting stuck in EVERYTHING, and always always testing the limits. He gets this look in his face when he tests you, almost a smirk. But he goes to time out willingly and stays there, which is nice. I’m beginning to think sometimes he needs a break and for now that’s how he gets it. We’re working on him giving himself a break without the testing.

Language: I am so impressed with him on this. He talks all the time, in big sentences. He tells me all kinds of things, and is so so funny. He refers to himself in the 3rd person which is also funny. For instance, today, when Daddy-O got home, Boomer felt the need to catch him up on recent events; “Daddy–mommy wake Boomer up” “Daddy–Boomer help mommy clean the fish tank.” “Daddy–Boomer eat cimamon rolls for breakfast.” He also knows every fast food place known to man (our fault)–”Look–Taco bell!!! Boomer wanna taco!!” “Look! I see Jack in the box!!! I wanna cimmamon roll!!” “I see Mic-A-Donalds!!! I want chicken!!!”

Potty-training: This has been Daddy-O’s project and has been going very well. The biggest problem is the boy drinks SO SO much he has to pee about 100 times a day. However, in the other category he is doing very well, as he says “Look!!! Boomer made a big brown stinky in the potty!!!” and “eeewww, gross!!!” The down side of all of this is that he frequently wakes me up between 6:30 and 7 in the morning with “Mommy!!! Boomer needs to go poopoo Elmo potty” which is not a good way to wake up.

Other than that, he still doesn’t like to be separated from us and always wants the whole family to be together. He loves to make people laugh and has quickly figured out that burping, farting, funny noises and falling down usually do the trick. He loves Barbie movies and frequently requests to watch them, he especially loves Barbie Diamond castle. Someday I’ll post video of him singing the songs. He thinks his sister is cool and tries to do everything she does. I am hoping to start at the little gym or the ymca or something soon so we have something for just him and I that can help burn off some of the energy. He is still very accident prone due to his daredevil status and had an injury over Christmas break that resulted in crooked front teeth. More on that later :)

Home–Day 1 January 15, 2009

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 10:31 pm

Oh how I love being home. Love, love, love. Today the high was something like 13 degrees or something; and I was in the house, warm. Very nice. I am in the phase where I feel the need to get a lot done, and am not yet stuck in the rut of tv and sofa. So I am making myself a list of jobs at night for the next day. Keeping it small so I don’t get overwhelmed and quit, that way any extra I do is a bonus. Today: change and wash all sheets and comforter, move toybox upstairs for extra sheets, and put away all the clean laundry that has piled up. Extra bonus–grocery shopping and cooked dinner. Go me :) Tomorrow: clean fish tank (they will be so happy), water plants (also happy), wash slipcovers, gather stuff for goodwill… At this rate my house may be clean in—oh, I don’t know, 6 months or so :)

Good News. January 12, 2009

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 10:27 pm

So my parents received some emails today indicating that the little boy they are hoping to adopt is back at the orphanage he was at before (that is a good thing!). And also that the paperwork we have been waiting on is complete (an even better thing). So, hopefully this information is accurate, and barring any unforeseen circumstance (like a power outage) they will pass court on Feb 12…
YAY!!

Update January 3, 2009

Filed under: Kids — findingbabyg @ 2:57 pm

So my parents did NOT pass court on Jan 1st. In fact their case was not even heard that day due to the same government form still not being completed. They are to try again Feb 12th. Things have gotten crazy, including my poor new little brother no longer being in the orphanage he was in, now back in the rural region he is from in the care of we’re not so sure whom. Frustrating does not begin to describe it. Scared, confused, worried, hopeful, all of those are present, but still can’t describe it. And I’m not even the one experiencing this, it’s my parents. No, I take that back, it’s not them, it’s a 7 year old boy who is who knows where feeling who knows what. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we wait for February 12…
