T Minus 8 days

Progress made today:  bought new bedroom set for Supergirl!  This was very exciting, we found a twin bed, dresser and nightstand.  She is currently using a toddler bed and her dresser doubles as a changing table (although not anymore).  Anyways, it was either by a new crib mattress (since ours is on her bed) and a new dresser for her, or get her a ‘big bed’ with a matching dresser.  We decided on the big bed.  It won’t be in until Thursday but I am VERY excited.  We also got a rug and valance to match the bedding in the baby’s room.  I finished getting the gifts for Supergirl to open while I am gone (one for each night).  And lots of fun little travel size necessities, shampoo, soap, etc.  Oooh, and snacks for the trip. Yum…

Now I just have to decide if I can wait until Thursday to move Supergirl’s dresser into the baby’s room.  Either his clothes or her clothes are going to end up on the floor.  He has fewer clothes, so I guess I can wait.  I am just super excited about getting the room finished.  I am trying to put the blinds up tonight, but am having some small issues.  Mostly, just the window is stupid 🙂

I almost forgot.  I did reach a sort of dumbfounded panic moment at the store while getting supplies.  Formula…  What on earth is going on?  Who knew there were 1000 different types of formula?  Where does one even start?  I finally gave up and just didn’t get any.  If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know.

Since I’m going a little nuts in the last few days I will probably be posting craziness every day.  Please bear with me, it’s only a week.

awww i bet sg is excited with her new big girl bed. i went to vegas this spring for 3 days. i did the little present thing for the boys. my oldest (4) told me the morning after i got back that he wanted me to go back to vegas… that’s right…so he could get more presents. 😛

i remember reading on one of the et groups that parents have bought formula in ethiopia that their child is on… brought it home and transitioning the child slowly to american formula. that would buy you some time… and be easier on little guy.

i love following along with you… it’s so exciting!

this is so exciting! I wish I was experiencing the manic excitement/rush and frantically preparing for the big trip with you!

congratulations to SG on her new bedroom set and big bed, she is definitely ready to be a ‘BIG’ sister. we can already see her reporting Eyobed’s diaper status while priding herself on mastering the use of the potty. the presents are a great idea!

So can we come at the end of July or is that too soon 🙂

Congrats to Super Girl on Supersizing her bed! 🙂

As for the formula, as someone above saide, BUY IT THERE. It is very inexpensive compared to here (about 45 Birr, or $9 US), and allows you to transition Baby G more easily. What I did was use the NAN1 (most babies are on this, Bebelac, or Promil) that Malía had been on for a couple of weeks, then started mixing formula I had brought from home (Good Start) into it to make the transition even smoother, However, b/c we got stuck there almost 10 weeks, I rn out of GS and went on to the next stage in formula, solids etc, anyway!
    Bonne Chance!!
    Blessings,

Gail will help you get the first cans of formula over there, which is much cheaper than buying it here. The babies are on Nestle Nan, and we found that when we got home, Caleb adjusted very well to Nestle Good Start, as I think someone else mentioned above. It’s also one of the more affordable brands. Good luck and happy packing!
